The Pad has been in North Topeka at 1730 NW Topeka Blvd for as long as I can remember. You find the complete history of The Pad here.
The Pad was one of the first fast food restaurants in Topeka when it found it’s current location in the early 1960’s. They offered no drive-thru service and no sit down eating. Patrons walked in and carried their order out in a brown paper sack. That is where the rocket logo was derived from, “fast food.” The Pad now offers plenty of seating and a drive-thru window.
I ordered a Rocket Meal which included a 1/4 pound hamburger, onion rings and a drink. The burgers at the Pad are some of the best around with all the fixins, and the onion rings are perfectly cooked and are the yummiest with ketchup and a dash of salt. The Pad does also feature a salad bar which is a little unconventional for a fast food restaurant. Following my meal I shared a slice of cherry pie with my son. This was his first visit to The Pad and is anxious to go back soon.
